L.C.U.D.C. was founded in the late 50s and as of 01/2000 consists of 12 clubs and approximately 250 individuals. L.C.U.D.C. sponsors a yearly spearfishing competition between all 12 clubs with awards given in many different categories. A list of participating clubs is available.

The Sea Tigers Spearfishing Club was formed in 1959, making it the oldest dive club in Louisiana.

The only founding member of the club still active is Mr. Val Roudolfich, Owner of Val's Diving Service. Two other members joined in late 1959 that are still active, they are "Tiger Mitch" Cancienne, and Jerry "Big Daddy" Bourgeois.

The club is still an active part of the spearfishing community, and hold The Sea Tigers Garfish Rodeo every February.
