Established in early 1997, we're 40+ members strong and growing!
Collectively, there is over 200 years of dive/dive related experience.
The Aquarium Divers have access to most resources available at the
Shedd Aquarium. We have 2 PADI certified Scuba Instructors, 4 Dive
Masters, and 2 Diver Master candidates. We have access to the Shedd's
own Coral Reef II dive boat docked in Florida. We also have TONS
of resources in the Shedd's volunteers and employees-veterinarians,
marine biologists, aquarists and animal care specialists. We offer
training classes on DAN Oxygen First Aid/Rescue and regularly pursue
training for additional certification levels. In the future we will
be offering Underwater Photography and more. There are local trips
planned monthly, and two BIG trips planned annually, for example:
Cozumel, Belize, and Bonaire in 98/99. Great trips in the works
for 2000!! We have great speakers offering presentations on animal
identification, shark dives, cold water diving/drowning, local environmental
clean-up dives, the Galapagos Islands, and turtle breeding and conservation
in Florida. We have great fun on the local scene as well: bowling
parties; holiday parties; 3-D IMAX Movies; beer making (!!) and
an annual outing to the Our World Underwater Expo.
Membership benefits include: yearly membership of $35.00; discounted
open water training; dive trips to various locales; discounts on
scuba equipments with a participating dive shop.

The Deep Blue Divers is a non-profit, member-operated club that
promotes the sport of scuba diving. Our members include divers of
every level of experience, and some non-divers, too. We place a
major emphasis on scuba safety and education, as well as fun! Our
events are family oriented - non-diving spouses and children are
welcome at meetings and dive trips. We make our events exciting
for everyone - barbeques and non-diving activities assure fun for
the whole family! |
