Quilálea
The Undiscovered Island
A luxurious private island resort. Quilálea is not just incorporated in the Quirimbas Archipelago National
Park in northern Mozambique, it is the hub.
Both islands comprising Quilálea resort have been declared the National
Park's only sanctuary. This means that both on land and in the waters of Quilálea and Sencar islands, nothing
may be caught, collected or harmed in any way. So, unlike other places on the Mozambican coast, there are far greater
stocks of game, reef fish and animals around, as well as pristine habitats for divers to explore and enjoy.
Of course, it also means diving carefully and respectfully so as not to intrude in this pristine marine environment.
There is a $25 Sanctuary fee per person, to aid in conserving the underwater environment. $8 of this fee goes to
the local community development, the balance is to maintain and control the sanctuary boundary.
